Social Justice Watcher(SJW) is a non-profit organization run by school students, striving to raise awareness on social issues among youths. Through hosting competitions and events, we hope to help the youths of today become more informed about current issues as well as fostering their critical thinking skills.

 

In 2020, we hosted our first social justice writing competition with the topic “George Floyd Incident”, attracting participants from all around the world with keen interest in issues regarding discrimination and how to mitigate them. Since then, each year we will explore different topics related to social equity through competitions and events, such as Asian discrimination, educational equity, gender equality, environmental justice, body shaming, and so on.

 

Although there have been countless efforts to emphasize political correctness, racial distrcimination still persists. We believe ignorance and arrogance are the roots of discrimination. Therefore, by strengthening our knowledge regarding such issues while using creative expressions to make a difference, we can help better our society.
