Social Justice Forum 2022 Spring

 

Gender equality is the foundation of the realization of human rights equality and a desire to benefit the whole of society, including girls and women. Yet the goal of gender equality remains largely out of reach, as illustrated by the wave of women’s protests against sexual harassment, assault, and gender-based violence in recent years, such as the #MeToo movement.

A wave of mobilization against gender equality has emerged in public discourse alongside calls for greater equality. Conservative, authoritarian and populist voices in many countries are now vying for equal participation of women and men in society under the auspices of a "war on gender ideology."

This backlash against women's empowerment has had a major impact on anti-discrimination laws, protection of women from domestic violence, reproductive health (such as America's #HeartBeatAct), and the establishment of gender quotas.

In the Social Justice Awards 2022 Spring, Social Justice Watcher, with the theme of Close the Gender Gap to bridge the gender gap, invites young people from all over the world to explore and dig the mystery of gender equality, and convey a message to the public: All genders are equal .

After the competition has come to an end, we hope to continue the thoughts and spirit of the contestants, and influence more young people to join us and use their actions to change the world. Therefore, SJW specially planned an online Forum on the theme of "Close the Gender Gap", starting from the professional experience of many bigwigs, to understand the gender situation in the world today, so as to better promote gender equality and change the world we live in.

We specially invited Professor Ross Hamilton of Barnard College, Zhang Shaokang, founder of the Better Together project, and Professor Liu Yu, associate professor of the Department of Public Economics of Fudan University, to lead everyone to explore the world of gender equality.

From 19:00-22:00 on the evening of May 21, 2022, Beijing time, more issues about gender equality will be announced in the SJW "Close the Gender Gap" lecture.
